Niyah Shaheed (they/she) is a public historian with a master’s in Heritage Preservation - Public History and a bachelor’s in History and African and African American Studies. Through their work, Shaheed aims to combat silences and inequities within the historical field by ensuring the histories of all communities are properly documented, shared, and preserved.

Shaheed prioritizes multimedia storytelling in crafting historical narratives that are collaborative, accessible, and impactful.

Their most recent project is the Queering Blackness Oral History Project - a project dedicated to challenging the silences of Black Queer history and stories within historiography and broader historical memory.
